Job Summary

Performs all diagnostic ultrasound and vascular examinations for interpretation by a radiologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and the Service Guild and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.
  • Performs ultrasound exams.
  • Performs vascular exams.
  • Related paperwork.
  • Explanation of exams.
  • Assists radiologist/physician with all biopsies, specialized ultrasound and vascular exams.
  • Stocking of linens and supplies as needed.
  • Cleans and maintains room/equipment.
  • Understands the utilization of PACS.
  • Promotes timely workflow.
  • Adheres to all OSHA and Infection Control policies.

The duties listed may not be all inclusive.

Other Functions

  • Assists in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
  • Assists with clerical duties (phone, scheduling, computer entry, etc.).
  • Helps insure safe and clean working environment for patients and co-workers.

COMPUTER ACCESS LEVEL

Computer system access is assigned based on manager's access level request and on the minimum necessary as

described in this description. Approval for level of access is given by the system administrator or manager of the

department that has ownership of system/module.

PATIENT CARE/AGE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATION/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School graduate, plus a two-year AMA approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program and Board eligible,

or American Registry of Radiologic technologist with one-year ultrasound experience.preferred

  • Must have the ability to handle ultrasound and vascular equipment and properly position patients. Must use good

judgment in determining alternate scanning methods when standard imaging is impossible.

  • Must have the ability to practice good patient care without constant supervision.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • ARDMS Certified
  • CPR

ENVIRONMENT

  • The technologist works in the dark using our ultrasound/vascular machines. Sometimes including portable exam in

patient's room, surgery and emergency room.

  • Some exposure to health hazards which are minimized by good isolation technique.
